DON BUCHANAN – Senior Advisor

Don brings a creative “voice of experience” to Marcomm Works as a versatile writer, editor, marketer and communicator. Don is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and has a Radio & TV Arts diploma from NAIT, and a bilingual B.A. from the U of A’s Campus St. Jean.

Don is well-versed as a researcher, interviewer and storyteller, with a knack for capturing illustrative quotes or insights. From annual reports to blog content, copywriting to e-news, journalism to social media, and video scripts to web copy, Don’s wordsmithing expertise truly ranges from A to Z.

Don has written for a wide range of corporate clients and Alberta-based magazines and publications on diverse topics, such as corporate responsibility, workplace health and safety, construction/engineering, physical activity/active living, and environmental compliance.

In addition to many years operating as goodwriter.ca, Don worked 5+ years as Communications Coordinator for a research centre at the U of A, and for 10+ years in Alberta’s private sector as Editor & Manager, Regulatory Affairs for Hazard Alert Training. Don’s media background also includes 5+ years as a part-time announcer on CKUA and involvement with numerous video productions as writer and production assistant.

A small sampling of Don’s publication credits includes:  workplace health and safety HANDI-GUIDES for different Canadian jurisdictions published by Thomson Reuters Canada; creative content for in-store newsletters associated with the My Rona Home reality TV series, and dozens of articles written or edited for the former Healthy U website in Alberta.
